Quotidian # 22 Baby Launcher

Okay, this is an image that I am titling "Baby Launcher".  It is an 8 x 12" oil on masonite of my friend's daughter and grand-daughter.  They came to visit in my little walled courtyard last Fall; and as it was a nice day the baby took off her clothes and proceeded to play with the hose.  Suddenly the strong, capable mother swept the baby up onto her shoulder to give her a glimpse of the street and the outside world.
In that instant I realized that all women are "Baby Launchers"...from conception to adulthood.

People With No Names - The Undocumented #72

This oil on canvas is 30"x 40" and titled "When You Eat This Bread, When You Drink This Cup". I am thinking a lot about the fact that immigrants would rather NOT 'eat the bread and drink the cup' of the immigrant experience. Like Christ in the garden, they wish that this cup could pass them by.
